Cool. But too bright imho. Here is my version.
- added trails
- premul alpha instead of Add blending mode for particles.
- changed sky tint.

But be careful. Trails may cause crash at first init. I first bypass it, play the scene, and then turn it back on.
Then it works. Does it work for you at 1st init?

I just added a small amount of fade-in for the particles to appear a bit smoother.

I added to particles a transparent mesh 3d with specular to simulate water flow.

Good job! :) Now I'm trying to animate the displacement also (through material) but something goes wrong - the mesh deforms improperly...

i tried too but finally I found that dispalcement was not so necessary, however a material distortion will be great to deform the textures.
