werkkzeug 4 texture art

Hi guys,

After playing with werkkzeug a while, I most liked the components for texture creation. Unfortunately I didn't discover a texture thread for werkkzeug 4 to show ones (artistical) creations and so I decided to start one and see who's into texture creation, too.

I know this is werkkzeug 4 related and posted in offtopic, but I didn't know in which sub-forum of the werkkzeug 4 section I should have placed it.

Now to make you want to compare I start with a texture I'm very proud of. It's that complex that my 6 GB of RAM couldn't handle it. :D It forced me to reduce resolution to successfully render.

I'm looking forward to seeing your work. Come on! :)

good idea. maybe you could post it into snippets.
I like texture creation with werkkzeug too, it's one it's best feature. So I'm glad to see your work, and don't hesitate to share with us your source, it's always instructive.

the link doesn't work...

I agree with ikam, this fits into snippets.

Hey guys,

I'm sorry the link doesn't work. When I posted it, it worked for me. Maybe the picture was deleted by the service, so I uploaded the screenshot again to another filehoster as well as the source-file. I know, it's probably very irritating and there might be some other work that's not finished. But maybe you might use it somehow. :) The texture in my sourcefile contains an additional text and (further back at the end of the toolchain) additional graphics which I played with but didn't want to use in the final texture.

Hopefully the links work now:

The file is named "first" because it was my first attempt to create something more than just a perlin and some random effects. :) If you're interested, I'll post some of the "seconds" and "thirds", too. :D

Now, Feedback! :D

Greetings

EDIT:
For the case, the links also won't work soon, I uploaded both files to my dropbox, so you can easily download them anytime.

Maybe the screenshot is downsized and you have to click it to see it in its correct resolution.

Very nice texture, the fire effect and the illuminated manhole cover in particular.
But i have to complain about the blurry shells. ;)

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. :D It motivates me to create even better texture art. :)

@erbsen:
Yup, I know, the shells aren't that sharp and clear. at the moment I created them I didn't know how to improve them but today I could probably create better shells. Maybe you try it yourself. The source is linked. I'm always interested in how other people do things in werkkzeug. :)

By the way am I always happy to recieve hints and tips to improve my effecs.

But what about you? Do you have some impressive textures you worked on for hours or just want to present?

I'm very curious. :)

As for me, I'm not much of a texture nerd ;) I prefer to tweak textures and see how they work with the rest of the 3d scene.
That's why I love wz - you can tweak everything and see the end result immediately :)

I haven´t done any decent textures with .wz4, i guess the last one was Gullideckel with .wz1.
Maybe i´ll create some textures if i´ve got some spare time.

The Gullideckel already looks great except the fact that it's a bit too clean and shiny. Besides that it's good work! Would like to see how you did that in WZ4. :)

Hi everybody,

after some time I have two new graphics I'd like to share with you. Feedback is welcome.
I also attached the werkkzeug-files. May they have a little use to you. :)

Because I got problems with uploading the files here, I uploaded them to my Dropbox and link to them.

hi, DromPeter!
Very impressive. Especially ancient.wz4. That's what I call art! :)
As a master of textures, maybe you could publish some simple tricks in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=42&p=5843#p5843 .
Please, keep it quick and simple (under, say... 10 ops). :)) Thank you.
