Jet engine thrust!

Jet engine thrust!

Postby Skinnytorus » Sunday, 08.July 2012, 14:33

Hey guys,
Please, take a look at my attempt at jet engine flames using a particle system. Enjoy! :)

Nice one.
I haven´t noticed it until now but do we only have static particles?

thanks, erbsen.
Sorry, but what do you mean by "...do we only have static particles?..". The particles I used are dynamic (i.e. ballistic). No random speed vectors are used intentionally to keep the shape of the flame. ;)

When i move the jet let´s say up and down the shape of the flame stays the same, it isn´t affected by the movement.
I give you an .wz1 example.

Sad news. As far as I can see no realtime dynamics is availble for particles in wz4.
Nevertheless, I will try to find ways to fake it for my jet engine example. ;)

I assume it´s the thrust for your jet engine, so i guess we need DynamicParticles i wonder why they aren´t integrated.

If you mean my Sparcle case, yes. That way I tried to work around the absense of dynamic particles.
Maybe ryg knows the answer...
As far as I can remember, wz3 doesn't have them either. And maybe wz3 particle system served as a prototype for the one used in wz4...
It's sad anyway. As I can see, FR guys do not feel like implementing themseleves any ground breaking features now... :(

You are right, that´s a good point.

Maybe this winter as reEto wrote. viewtopic.php?f=41&p=5143#p5143
