True mirror effect?

True mirror effect?

Postby Skinnytorus » Monday, 13.August 2012, 19:06

Hi, all.
I may be having a bad day today ;), but I can't figure out how to make a plain true mirror effect i.e. make a material reflect the environment in real time.
Maybe wz4 just can't do that, but damn... this is interesting! Any ideas?
Thank you.

thanks, reEto.
At least, we now know that fiddling with shader params for a true mirror effect is a waste of time. ;)

lOOk at fr-63 the blob... can you see the reflexion the ship is crossing? you want that? than use rendertarget. its nearly a true mirror. for doing this as real true really mirror maybe one day the custom raytrace stuff can help :) at all if you do right directing to the scene with rendertarget you can do reflex stuff.
if you have ever done any type of realtime stuff, you should know that there are many ways to create your major fx. my tip: use your creativity instead having an op that maybe not needed (maybe)..

Hi

I'm trying to make a reflection effet with render target, but projection reflection seems reversed, any idea ?

another method with simili refract
- envi-reflect uv mode in tex2d (emissive)
- crackfixer
- flags in rt, play on quality

A very cool structure. I didn't know I could stack RT directly into Camera! :)
Thumbs up!

Very nice, it´s a shame that it´s only working when the camera isn´t moving. :(

Why? I inserted shaker for the Camera and it works - not quite realistic, but it does.
What doesn't work for you exactly?

I think I fixed it for the most part (except for the reflection deformation appearing at too sharp angles with camera view)

Great, that´s way better but i noticed that the reflection doesn´t fit the animation of the cube. :(

I think this depends on how you position the camera capturing RT for the reflection.
IMHO it should be placed somewhere below the cube and look at it as if it were in the water.
