Path3D: What is that for?

Postby Skinnytorus » Saturday, 02.June 2012, 19:13

Hi, All.
I have been wondering what is Path3D?
My guess is that it should extrude some surface along some path. Path field requires some script or array I can not figure out yet.
Has anyone used it to some advantage?
Thank you.

path3d is for placing 3d coordinates there to create a mesh. we have created some logos with it. you can mesh in 3d software, get the targetpoints, and write it into the op. and now you have the mesh. you can use them for doing 4k, intro stuff or stuff like that

hm, i tested. working here. look around, or use center op with it. you have to copy the hole bunch not only the numbers.

Thks reEto

I confirm, it's works.
I need to add "center" op and "transform" with scale.y = -1.0 , because logo is inversed.

Yay! Now it works. The text is gigantic and 'center' and 'transform' help a lot.
Thanks. But how to get the target points from a 3d editor... lets say Blender?

here some more infos :

http://www.svgbasics.com/paths.html
http://www.w3schools.com/svg/svg_path.asp
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths.html

maybe easiest is to use an svg editor like inkscape or illustrator.

here a shape released with inkscape

it remains for you to make your logo :-""
