Werkkzeug 3 VS Werkkzeug 4 (Texture generator)

Werkkzeug 3 VS Werkkzeug 4 (Texture generator)

Hi, just my little research from all this files and tutorials, I found several textures that was generated in wz3 and wz4. Here you can compare this two textures made in both demotools :)

Yes it is the same, I just rebuild thoses textures from wz3 for the wz4 tuto as I found they are really nice and good examples ;)
Texture Operators between wz3 and wz4 are the sames or very few littles parameters differences.

Final result is different because I didn't use the exact parameters values...

By the way... Ikam, what do you think of polishing wz3 up a bit? It still needs a comment operator badly. Video export doesn't work and several shortcuts are not operational. It still has some advantages over wz4 (e.g. particles detached from emitter, rigging, unique fx operators) .

Thanks ikam, I see now and that good, I can create same textures in both version. By the way, in wz3 I more like how light work (I mean for my planned work with close environment, lights provide better results in wz3 than in wz4) but wz4 still awesome with such amazing tutorial and all potential.
Agree with Skinnytorus about wz3, and maybe also made tutorial too for wz3?

I agree on this one. I could as well contribute to the tutorial file if we have a comment op and a fixed operator class search (doesn't work now).

Yesss, Ikam!))))
Can you, please, "polish" wz3, by implementing:
Exe, avi out format
Kkrieger demo format as I anderstand, is interactive FPS demo with exe expansion like Kkrieger
SSAO
Real reflections
Brute forded radiosity
AI for monsters
Depth field filter
...
))))

Hey, hey! Hold your horses, man. I know you're kidding ;)
Speaking seriously, a bugfix release would't hurt, the only new feature being a comment op.

))) OK!
let's keep only:
Exe, avi out format
Kkrieger type demo format as I anderstand, is interactive FPS demo with exe expansion like Kkrieger

its all not new features, its all already exists in wz3, but not working properly

In fact fixing wz isn't a walk in the park. It takes time to understand how it all works. Considering that ikam must be familiar with wz4 only, he needs time and motivation. Hopefully he'll agree to spend some time on the comment op and the most serious bugs.

Well at least we have here very good coder that can support wz4. So priority to wz4 demotool.
PS. ikam, thank you for your great work on coding!

hi guys,

of course, wz4 more impressive (more options, more features, more possibilities)

to wz3 : ( for me personaly ) -- one executable file ( smallsize ); v2m support

some "maybe" options ;)

- DOF filter -- or a blur+fog option to simulate or to fake it
- shadow ( smoother shadow ) - not that it looks so hard, if u place currently a light somewhere in a scene

these 2 things would be cool for more realistic

what i'am not understanding too is: the example file "theta"
- load in the theta.k
- then looking for the place ( theta.ogg ) - loaded
-> demo section -> root op - pressing s - F5 to play
mostly it gives a problem with a time op or so ( as example: over the root op is a "Nop" with an _0f ( to set the same time where this _0f option is placed on different scenes)
of course if u will take the *.kx with the player executable then it runs correctly. but not in the "viewer" window in wz3
-- also it gives some problems with "alpha" texture option

it dont know , what on wz3 would possbile to fix "maybe" -- it's just an idea

Yeah... I think what we all wanna say is that wz3 is unique in its own right and deserves a bug fix release, right?

yes, thats right.

the last word will come from "Ikam".
If "Ikam" said, that it takes definitly to much work& time, or that it's maybe not possbile. then we can do nothing ;)
however it's just idea & it would be cool.

I completely agree with quickyman!))
I'd like wz3 too and its own features. So, if possible to make WZ4 add (or replace) to modlight op 8 lights with unlimited count of add lights button!!!
Cecond wish in wz4 is possibility to multiply these modlights. Sorry for my poor english..
